OUR PROGRAM

We are a Nonprofit LLC Established August 10th 2020 and a partner agency of the United Way of Northwest Alabama.

Armstead Athletics (based out of Florence, Alabama) focuses on education, service, and character. While athletics is utilized as a vehicle for the youth in our community, the ultimate goal is to expose the children to academic, athletic, leadership, and community service opportunities. The organization also promotes a consistent and resilient work ethic that is required to succeed and achieve any goal that students set for themselves.

Our Goals:

  • Show respect for individuals

  • Develop core offensive and defensive fundamentals

ABOUT FOUNDER, MALCOLM ARMSTEAD

Malcolm Ray Armstead born August 1, 1989 is an American-born naturalized Kosovo citizen. A professional basketball player in Kosovo. After playing college basketball for Chipola College, Malcolm Armstead spent two seasons at the University of Oregon, where he led the team in assists and steals, breaking the school’s record number of steals in 2 consecutive seasons. Armstead was second in the Pac-12 conference (2009-2010) in steals, while ranking third in both assists and assist-to-turnover ratio before transferring to Wichita State University for the 2011-2012 year. After sitting out the 2011-2012 season at Wichita State, 2012-2013 is when Armstead helped lead the school to its first Final Four appearance since 1965 and the second in the school’s history. Armstead was named West Regional MVP. Since 2013, Armstead has played basketball internationally in Africa, Slovenia, Russia, Greece, Turkey, Lithuania, Switzerland, Kosovo, and Macedonia. Malcolm Armstead is currently playing his 12th professional season abroad.
